"Lagidorp - DVD with CD Soundtracks" Overview
This is the second movie from Good Shepherd's own Echo Productions. Like "The Jonah Wars", our first, "Lagidorp" is the result of a summer of work. Kids learned about the building blocks of a story until they found one that they wanted to tell. Then we had meetings to flush out exactly how the story would unfold. I wrote a script based on the story and characters we had developed. We then moved into preproduction where we had tryouts and cast the movie. We got together costumes and scouted locations. Then we started rehearsing and shooting. Post production (editing) got a bit hung up (computer problems, a busy schedule, a new baby!... ) but now it is here.
In Lagidorp, the title character is a young man who's father is a powerful wizard. Despite the example of his older sister Nosdob. Lagidorp demands his share of his fathers power and leaves the protection of his fathers house to find "freedom and fun." His travels lead him to a sinister fair in the heart of Dragon Town.
I can say that I'm very happy with it.
The Jonah Wars was good, but we have learned a lot since then. The kids took there parts very seriously and the performances show that. There is a great original sound track mostly from Brian Nagel (who also helped make the movie and has an impossible to find cameo) and Blue on Blue (who did the soundtrack to the Jonah Wars). I guess I can tell you it's fun and that this is, by far, the absolute best independent, 30 minute, fairy tale, fantasy, parable inspired movie made by a cast and crew almost entirely younger than high school, to come out this year!
